PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project consisted of the installation of a temporary detour to accommodate traffic around the new bridge location and channel realignment. The existing three span major bridge and single span overpass were demolished while maintaining unrestricted traffic flow on Hwy. 55. Hwy 813 was realigned and 50th Street extended.

This site was very environmentally sensitive as portions of the existing channel were filled and a new channel constructed. A spawning marsh was constructed as habitat compensation. The site was regularly monitored by Federal and Provincial Authorities to ensure all environmental constraints were met.

This complex project presented several challenges in terms of scheduling the work, co-coordinating thirteen subcontractors/suppliers and staging.

The project was completed well ahead of schedule and on budget.
