TRAFFIC UPDATES

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 18, 2020:

WHITEMUD INTERCHANGE STRUCTURE LOCATION:

Eastbound WMD: Regular detour in place. (no additional traffic restrictions)

Westbound WMD: Regular detour in place. (no additional traffic restrictions)

SB AHD: Work Activity:  Regular TAS Plan in place. (no additional traffic restrictions)

NB AHD: Work Activity:  Regular TAS Plan  in place. (no additional traffic restrictions)

 

WEDGEWOOD CREEK STRUCTURE LOCATION:

Southbound AHD:

  • Work Activity: Abutment work on Approach End of bridge (Formwork Material placing from Roadway).  //    Concrete pour from SB AHD
  • Traffic Impact: Single lane closure (see attached TAS Plan, NOTE WE REQUIRE A RIGHT HAND LANE CLOSURE not a left hand closure). This will be during day time OFF PEAK hours throughout the week day
  • Duration: Tuesday September 15th (10:00 AM – 3:00PM)   //    Friday September 18th (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Northbound AHD:

  • Work Activity: Site access North of Bridge
  • Traffic Impact: Trucks entering through access point 3 (North side of bridge structure) with pilot trucks to guide in and out of access during OFF-PEAK Hours (9:00AM – 3:30PM) speed reduction 80kph.
  • Duration: September 14th – September 18th   

 

NORTH SASKATCHEWAN RIVER STRUCTURE LOCATION:

Southbound AHD:

  • Work Activity: Substructure work/preparation
  • Traffic Impact:  Trucks turning from right hand lane, speed will be reduced to 60km/hr through work zone for SB(EB) traffic. Will require assistance possible to guide vehicles to maintain speed and give buffer for trucks turning into site during OFF PEAK HOURS between 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Speed reduction ONLY during the daytime work hours [7:00 AM to 3:30PM] Speed will be posted back to 80km/hr.    //    Rebar material delivery schedule during off peak hours
  • Duration: September 14th to September 18th – speed reduction implemented.    //    September 16th

 Northbound AHD:

  • Work Activity:   Substructure work/preparation   //  Trucks entering and exiting from both ends of bridge
  • Traffic Impact:  Trucks turning from right hand lane, speed will be reduced to 60km/hr through work zone for NB(WB) traffic. Will require assistance possible to guide vehicles to maintain speed and give buffer for trucks turning into site during OFF PEAK HOURS between 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Speed reduction ONLY during the daytime work hours [7:00 AM to 3:30PM] Speed will be posted back to 80km/hr.
  • Duration: September 14th to September 18th – speed reductions implemented

Portland Cement Concrete Paving (PCCP) Widening

Carmacks & our sub- contractor Proform is carrying on with the Widening of the South West Anthony Henday.

We are working on Section #25 (Rabbit Hill Interchange Area) , #26 (Between Rabbit Hill & Terwillegar Interchanges) &  then on Section #22 (111St),respectively 612m,364m & 161m long.

These remaining sections will complete the PCCP Widening for the North Bound Lane of the SWAHD.

Traffic Impact:

  • Night Time Lane Closure :
    • Lane closure and speed reduction to 60 km/h, on the North Bound Lane of the Henday, by Rabbit Hill Interchanges (Stat. 5+720 to 7+207).
    • Lane closure and speed reduction to 60 km/h, on the North Bound Lane of the Henday, by 111St Interchanges (Stat. 2+168 to 2+329).

Lane Restriction starting from 20:00 to 6:00, i.e. off peak hour, Speed will be reduced on the single lane (outside lane is the one being closed).

Duration:

Operation is still on-going as of the 17th of September at night Time (weather dependent), for approximatively 5 nights.

Please note that the Lane Restriction at Section #22 will be only be in place upon completion of the Widening of Section #26

Steel Barriers Relocation Anthony Henday North Bound Lane to South Bound Lane

Carmacks is moving forward with the PCCP Widening of the Anthony Henday Dr. South Bound Lane.

We will relocate the Steel Barriers from Terwillegar Area (500m) to the South Bound Lane of the Anthony Henday at the Area between 127St & 111St (respectively 458m & 351m).

Some Steel barriers will also be place to start working on the asphalt widening (Section #32) on the South Bound Lane  (530m long) .

Traffic Impact:

  • Night Time Lane Closure :
  • Lane closure and speed reduction to 60 km/h, on the Anthony Henday North Bound Lane at the Terwillegar Drive. Interchange (Stat. 7+520 to 8+922)

Lane Restriction starting from 21:00 to 2:00, i.e. off peak hour, Speed will be reduced on the single lane. (outside lane is the one being closed).

  • Lane closure and speed reduction to 60 km/h, on the Anthony Henday South Bound Lane between 127St & 111St interchange (Stat. 3+000 to 2+000)

Lane Restriction starting from 22:00 to 3:00, i.e. off peak hour, Speed will be reduced on the single lane. (outside lane is the one being closed).

  • Lane closure and speed reduction to 60 km/h, on the Anthony Henday South Bound Lane between at the Whitemud interchange (Stat. 17+015 to 17+545)

Lane Restriction starting from 23:00 to 4:00, i.e. off peak hour, Speed will be reduced on the single lane. (outside lane is the one being closed).

  • Day Time Impact :
  • Please note that the Speed limit will be permanently reduced from 100km/h to 80km/h on SBL of the Henday from the Heritage Valley to 111St due to presence of the Steel Barriers.
  • Please note that the Speed limit will be permanently reduced from 100km/h to 80km/h on SBL of the Henday by Whitemud Interchange due to presence of the Steel Barriers.

Duration:

  • Operation Schedule on 18th of September at night Time.

Speed Reduction from Heritage Valley to 111St (South Bound Lane) to 80km/h will remain until the completion of the PCCP and removal of the barriers.

SWAHD Over Head Signs removal on the Anthony Henday Dr North Bound Lane

Carmacks & our Sub-Contractor Candesto will remove two (2) overhead sign structure (ZN1-3 & ZN2-4) on the Anthony Henday Dr. between Callingwood Rd and Whitemud Dr. Interchanges (respectively at Stat. 16+242.84 & 16+549.895).

Traffic Impact:

  • Night Time Lane Closure :

Two Lane closure and speed reduction to 60 km/h, on the Anthony Henday North  Bound Lane between Callingwood Rd. and Whitemud Dr. (from Stat. 16+100 to 16+575)

Lane Restriction starting from 21:00 to 4:00,i.e off peak hour, Speed will be reduced on the single lane (the inner lane, i.e. left hand one is the one left open)

Please note that the remaining inner lane  will be shut down for about 10 minutes, closing the whole lane (flaggers will be onsite) in order to remove the Overhead Sign Bridge Structure (ZN2-4) safely.

Temporary Signs will takeover to provided the Information to the Traffic.

Duration:

Operation Schedule on 19th of September at Night Time.

 

ONGOING:  The following are the impacts to traffic on Whitemud Drive at the Anthony Henday Interchange:

Continuous:

  • Speed reduction to 60 KPH on Whitemud at this location
  • Two lane jog detour
  • Two travel lanes maintained in both directions through the work zone
  • Lane width reduction to 3.5m
