FORT CHIPEWYAN – LANDFILL CAP CONSTRUCTION

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The construction of the landfill cap consisted of removing, burying and grading 4.2 hectares of garbage and installing 45,000 square meters of HDPE liner. Placement of 650mm of sand and 200mm of topsoil was required above the liner to complete the cap.

In addition to the landfill cap, a perimeter ditch was installed around the complete site.

The project started on May 10, 2012 and was completed on October 1, 2012. Throughout the project delays were encountered due to 26 days of rain and work could not move forward.
