Regina By-Pass

PROJECT OWNER: Saskatchewan Ministry Highways and Infrastructure
PROJECT LOCATION: Regina, Saskatchewan
PROJECT SCHEDULE: October, 2015 to October, 2019
PROJECT VALUE: $1,900,000

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Regina By-Pass is comprised of 18km of 4 lane divided Brownfield construction, 40km of 4 lane divided Greenfield construction, 12 interchanges and 33 bridges. The Brownfield work consisted of milling the existing surface and doing a full depth foamed subgrade, gravel base and paved surface.

Some of the challenges were the utility moves (over 150) and the flat grade line through the south Regina area which made drainage design a challenge.

Traffic accommodation was also a major challenge due to the number of new interchanges and structures being built. The surface quantities were in the range of 13,000,000m³ fill required, 950,000 tonne of ACP and 1,300,000 tonne of GBC.

In spite of all the challenges the project team completed one of the largest projects in Saskatchewan history. The completed roadway was opened to traffic in October, 2019.
