New Sarepta – 2019 Road Program

PROJECT OWNER: Leduc County
PROJECT LOCATION: Main Street, New Sarepta, AB
PROJECT SCHEDULE: June 1, 2019 to October 31, 2019
PROJECT VALUE: $1,300,000

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The 2019 Road Program was the rehabilitation of Main Street in the Hamlet of New Sarepta. Work included storm sewer installation, ditch grading, removal of hydrocarbons and placing of a liner to control hydrocarbons, granular base course, replacement of concrete curbs/walks, and asphalt paving. This job was about 400 lm in length with the requirement to maintain access to businesses and residences during construction.

This job became a challenge to complete on schedule due to unforeseen shallow utilities conflicts; i.e., shallow gas lines requiring relocation. During the gas line relocation unforeseen hydrocarbons were discovered again causing extra work and delays to the reconstruction.

Carmacks was able to complete the work by the end of the season by committing additional forces and equipment to finish the project. Having a good working relationship with the County and the Consultant facilitated in completing this negotiated work during the construction season.
