TRAFFIC UPDATES

UPDATED AUGUST 4, 2020:

Steel Barriers relocation from North Sask. River Bridge to 119 St, SWAHD (NBL)

Carmacks will be setup the steel barriers at that area and move them at the 119 St Area (1.2 km) to carry on with the widening work.

This new set up will let us continue the Widening on the north Bound Lane of the Anthony Henday.

Traffic Impact:

  • Night Time Lane Closure :

Lane closure and speed reduction to 60 km/h, on the North Bound Lane of the Henday, at the 119 St area (Stat. 3+400 to 4+300).

Lane Restriction starting from 21:00 pm to 5:00 am, i.e. off peak hour, Speed will be reduced on the single lane (outside lane is the one being closed).

Duration:

Operation Schedule on 5th of August at Night Time, for 1 night.

 

Portland Cement Concrete Paving (PCCP) Widening

Carmacks & our subcontractor Proform is carrying on with the Widening of the South West Anthony Henday.

  • Scope of Work: once the gravel is done, includes saw cutting, ties-in/dowel bars placement, pouring concrete, curing compound and joint sealing.
  • After the pour, a curing time of 7 days will be necessary to allow finalization of the joint sealing before releasing the traffic set up and the steel barriers in place.
  • Once the steel barriers are removed, line painting will be done to delimit the new shoulder line.
  • The Sixth section (267m long) to be complete will be on the North Side of Wedgewood Bridge, North Bound Lane (Stat. 12+873 to 13+140). Carmacks will keep you update as we advance and have other sections of the SWAHD ready for to be poured.

Traffic Impact:

  • Night Time Lane Closure :
    • Lane closure and speed reduction to 50 km/h, on the North Bound Lane of the Henday, at Wedgewood Bridge (Stat. 12+267 to 13+140)
    • Lane Restriction starting from 20:00 to 6:00, i.e. off peak hour, Speed will be reduced on the single lane (outside lane is the one being closed).

Duration:

  • Operation Schedule on 29th of July at night Time (weather dependent), the nightly closure and the PCCP paving will occur for the rest of the Construction season and upon completion of the PCCP widening.The Section mentioned above will take approximatively 3 nights of work.

 

WHITEMUD INTERCHANGE STRUCTURE LOCATION:

Eastbound WMD: Regular detour in place. (no additional traffic restrictions)

Westbound WMD: Regular detour in place. (no additional traffic restrictions)

SB AHD: Work Activity:  Regular TAS Plan in place. (no additional traffic restrictions)

NB AHD: Work Activity:  Regular TAS Plan  in place. (no additional traffic restrictions)

 

WEDGEWOOD CREEK STRUCTURE LOCATION:

Southbound AHD:

No traffic impacts at this time

Northbound AHD:

  • Work Activity: Site access North of Bridge
  • Traffic Impact: Trucks entering through access point 3 (North side of bridge structure) with pilot trucks to guide in and out of access during OFF-PEAK Hours (9:00 AM – 3:30 PM) speed reduction 80 kph.
  • Duration: Tuesday August 4th – 7th  

 

NORTH SASKATCHEWAN RIVER STRUCTURE LOCATION:

Southbound AHD:

  • Work Activity: Substructure work/preparation
  • Traffic Impact:  Trucks turning from right hand lane, speed will be reduced to 80 km/hr through work zone for SB(EB) traffic. Will require assistance possible to guide vehicles to maintain speed and give buffer for trucks turning into site. Will be during OFF PEAK HOURS between 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • Duration:  Ongoing

 Northbound AHD:

  • Work Activity:   Substructure work/preparation
  • Traffic Impact:  Trucks turning from right hand lane, speed will be reduced to 60 km/hr through work zone for NB(WB) traffic. Will require assistance possible to guide vehicles to maintain speed and give buffer for trucks turning into site. Will be during OFF PEAK HOURS between 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Speed reduction ONLY during the daytime work hours [7:00 AM to 3:30 PM] Speed will be posted back to 80 km/hr.
  • Duration: Tuesday August 4th to August 7th – speed reductions implemented

 

ONGOING:  The following are the impacts to traffic on Whitemud Drive at the Anthony Henday Interchange:

Continuous:

  • Speed reduction to 60 KPH on Whitemud at this location
  • Two lane jog detour
  • Two travel lanes maintained in both directions through the work zone
  • Lane width reduction to 3.5m
